English Name: Laboratory for Environmental Informatics (ENVINFOR Lab)

Location: Room C15 – VNUHCM-University of Science, 227 Nguyen Van Cu, District 5.

To support undergraduate and postgraduate programs at the Faculty and promote research on environmental modeling, GIS, and remote sensing in the environmental field and environmental protection.

3. Research Areas

Environmental Modeling Research: Simulating and predicting the spread of pollutants (water and air) and environmental incidents and developing decision support systems for sustainable resources and environmental management.
Spatial Analysis Research (GIS and Remote Sensing): Monitoring and evaluating resource and environmental dynamics, monitoring and forecasting natural disaster risks, and applying GIS and remote sensing to resource and environmental management.
Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Research: Analyzing and evaluating trends in environmental data and developing AI models to simulate and forecast environmental quality.
Application Programming and Environmental Database Research: Developing environmental quality simulation models and environmental data management applications, such as GIS applications, web GIS applications, and mobile GIS applications.

3. Research Capabilities

Basic research: Publication of 30 papers in the WoS/Scopus index from 2018 to 2023　(average of 6 papers per year).
Applied research: Conducting research projects to address local environmental issues (water and air pollution, erosion and sedimentation, urbanization, urban heat islands, etc.).
- Have led two city-level projects, two Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City-level research projects (type C), and seven university-level research projects.
- Participated in two national-level projects from 2018 to 2023.
Scientific and Technical Services: Short-term training courses and consulting services on environmental modeling, GIS, and remote sensing.
